Physical Strength is the most important thing in life. Our strength, more than any other physical or spiritual quality, determines the quality of our time here on earth. A weak individual is simply not as happy as that same individual would be if they were strong. Our ancestors were physically strong as the result of their continued existence in a physical world. Those whose strength was adequate to survive did so. Those of inadequate strength did not. This fact shaped our basic physiology. The reality of millions of years of adaptation to a necessarily physical existence is not altered with the advent of automobiles and computers.
It is a fact that humans still possess the potential of having strong muscles, connective tissue and bone as well as a well conditioned nervous system. If we ignore this potential we do so at our peril. These are the very physical components of our existence and we now must depend on conscious, goal oriented effort to provide them with the stimulus they need to regain the condition that is normal to them. EXERCISE IS THAT STIMULUS.
Notwithstanding any consideration of sports performance, exercise is the stimulus that returns our body to the condition for which it was designed. We are not physically normal in the absence of hard physical effort. Exercise is an activity that we must engage in for if we do not, there will always be physical problems. We must exercise if we are to replicate the conditions for which our bodies were designed. The conditions that are physically normal for us. Proper exercise is simply substitute cave man activity. The activity we need to engage in to make our bodies and minds normal in the 21st century.
